Libraries around the Shire

The Shire of Dandaragan is home to four public libraries - Jurien Bay, Cervantes, Badgingarra and Dandaragan.  Membership provides access to all four libraries in the Shire, as well as our online resources.  We offer memberships for adults, children and visitors staying in town for a week or more.

Midwest Libraries Consortium

The Shire of Dandaragain is part of the Midwest Libraries Consortium.  The Consortium was established by the City of Greater Geraldton in 2016 and also includes Shires of Carnarvon, Chapman Valley, Coorow, Cue, Mingenew, and Northampton.

Being a part of the consortium allows a collaborative approach to sharing resources and databases and gives people in the Shire of Dandaragan more options when it comes to library services.

The Consortium offers a free, one-card system which shares the same library database, meaning readers can move between libraries easily and borrow items at any of the involved shires’ libraries with catalogues online.  This system also includes improved access to eResources such as eBooks and audiobooks, and also Kanopy – a video streaming platform delivering indie, classic, festival and educational documentaries.

Moving away from the common stereotype, today’s libraries offer so much more than just books, with children’s activities, heritage collections, festivals and special celebrations, and community meeting spaces.
