The Shire of Dandaragan's Economic and Tourism Development Strategy was developed to identify long-term economic outcomes for the Shire and includes a range of initiatives to support the existing business community and attract new and diverse business opportunities that will contribute to the economic growth of our community.

The Shire's Economic Development team are focused on promoting and marketing the investment opportunities that exist in the Shire to assist in attracting new investment. The team will achieve this through meeting the following objectives:
- Implementation of the Shire's Economic / Tourism Development Strategy (2016-2026)
- Development of a series of Investment prospectuses outlining investment opportunities
- Market and promote key industry sectors such as tourism and agriculture
- Facilitate and assist private investors in progressing investment projects and opportunities in the region that will provide economic benefits such as employment

With the completion of NorthLink (a $1 billion road infrastructure project), the Shire of Dandaragan can be reached in 2-2.5 hours, which means it takes longer to drive from Perth to Margaret River than it does to travel from Perth to the Shire of Dandaragan. The opening of NorthLink in 2020 also provided a direct highway route to access the Perth International Airport and the Port of Fremantle from the Shire, minimising travel time for freight.
