Review of Councillor Representation Discussion Paper (Closed)

The Shire of Dandaragan is seeking feedback on a Councillor Representation Review in line with the Local Government Reform Proposals.

The Shire of Dandaragan invites the community to consider the Review of Councillor Representation Discussion Paper 2022 which looks at the current Councillor representation numbers and possible options for change.

The changes are required in response to proposed local government reforms announced by the State Government earlier this year.

The single biggest change the Shire will be required to make in response to the reforms will be reducing the number of Councillors from nine, to between five and seven Councillors. Legislation to give effect to the changes is expected to be introduced into Parliament in early 2023.

The Discussion Paper outlines 11 options which have been developed to encourage discussion and input from the community. It should be noted that the options presented do not represent all possible options, and through this Discussion Paper the Shire is seeking input from the community on the options set out within, or suggestions for an alternative.

Members of the community are invited to make a written submission about any aspect of the representation review and lodge it at:
Shire of Dandaragan
69 Bashford Street
Jurien Bay, WA 6516
Email: council@dandaragan.wa.gov.au

All submissions must be received by 4pm on 16 January 2023.

Thank you for your interest and involvement in this review. Council welcomes your comments on any matters that may assist it to make informed and responsible decisions for the benefit of the people of the Shire of Dandaragan.
